When making a handmade gift, packaging is almost as important as the gift itself!
Use your creativity to make it special. Look for packaging ideas you like
on commercial products. One customer shared with me a story about how
she was giving her relative a gift card. She packaged it in
a cardboard box that she had covered with old family photos. The recipient thought
the box itself was the gift and loved it!
Votive Candles
Everyone on your list can enjoy a gift of a candle and it's takes little time
to make. We wrapped the votive with a beautiful frosted snowflake vellum and
tied a brown satin ribbon around it to hold the paper in
place. When lit, this votive is beautiful. We've also made
decorative votives using stickers like the glittered trees
from Making Memories.
Impress Desk Calendar
Start a tradition for giving a hand stamped desk calendar.
Photo Calendar
Family members would love a photo calendar they could keep on
their desk or refrigerator for the year. This one is quick and
simple to make.
Coaster Set
Here's a fun hostess gift, a paper coaster set. Start with our new circle tags
and embellish with paper or stamps.
Cover an inexpensive wooden frame with your favorite patterned paper.
The newest glittered or velvet papers like this one from Making Memories add a touch of
elegance and turn the plain frame into a designer one.
Memo Pad
A little gift for co workers, simply cover a small pad of paper or
post it notes with decorative paper. Embellish with ribbon or
a monogrammed sticker.
Packaged Treats
What a creative way to package treats. We saw this idea
on Jen del Muro's blog. We've had the large clear boxes and the clear tubes for
a long time but we never realized they would work so well together. Thank Jen
for a great idea! Here's our version of the packaging idea. The score it board
works great to help score the insert. We used the swirl punch
to decorate it.
Design a custom stamp for your favorite book reader.
You can give them the stamp or make some custom book plates for them.
The chocolate brown boxes are perfect for packaging them in.
It's fun during the holidays to give a small food gift
to co-workers and neighbors.
At our 2008 holiday idea show, we showed these ideas
for packaging.
